What spoiled, immature, rich crybabies. I'm sure your parents are happy that the money they spent on sending you to college is being wasted away right now. And, if you don't like the tuition hikes -- leave NYU and go somewhere else. By God, grow up.

This seems very silly and juvenile to me. "This is an Occupation"? How childish does that sound? If you actually want to get financial aid support for a special group of students why not a petition? Why not a fund raiser? If you were really committed to your cause why cut-and-run the moment you are threatened with disciplinary action?? It sounds like your heart is in the right place. But, your means lack tact...

nonviolence supports the state, I did put quite a bit of thought into my statement. After sleeping on it, I regret leaving something out. Every single one of these students should be expelled from the University, and arrested.

2 guards injured!? if so, unfortunate, but big fucken deal!! get over it, assuming it even happened and is not theatrics to garner sympathy for the police! It is equally unfortunate that regular folks are quicker to show emotion and support for pigs than for fellow regular folks in general.. Their names says it all: GUARDS. What are they guarding? They are guarding the status quo, which is precisely what is at issue... But clearly what is also at issue... (and if there is any further revisions to statements it should be to address this): the issue is also the 'cops that we all carry in our own heads', which is on wide display in everyone's comments concerned about these two allegedly injured guards. KILL YOUR INNER COP, and yes, this can be done nonviolently if you'd like.

John, you say, "...you take over a building. . . . A classic protesting convention, really. However, I don’t believe that any protesters in the past have made one of their demands their own immunity, for said protest. Where is your backbone? If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen." Building takeovers are indeed "a classic protesting convention" but one that (as you may or may not know) is referred to as "civil disobedience" with a long history and theoretical formulation to support it. To paraphrase MLK, 'we have a moral obligation to break unjust laws and are willing to pay the consequences to demonstrate it is unjust'... The fact of the matter is that the powers that be (in their many manifestations, however you'd like to call them; the state, police, etc.) have figured this out and made adjustments accordingly in the form of factoring in arrests, criminalizing protesters, and drawing out long court battles as a way of diffusing movements. Are people going then to just resort to "classic conventions" without making modifications of their own to deal with the adjustments of the state? Of course not, that would be silly and self-defeating... Tactics, strategies and demands change as circumstances, history and relations of power change... Give some thought to your snide comments before posting, please!

"we do not intend our occupation to cause harm to anyone, both guards and students alike."
?????
Maybe this minor edit would help make the point clearer:
"we do not intend our occupation to cause harm to anyone, neither guards nor students."

There are lots of other problems with the syntax of both the statement and the comments, but I'll restrain myself. Clearly, very few NYU students are getting their money's worth at this institution.

just wondering--won't NYU have to spend our tuition dollars on repairing the property you've damaged? and aren't they employing extra guards at kimmel for the purpose of keeping you guys under control (also using our tuition money)?
