MIDNIGHT RALLY - We really need you here!!!
Feb 20th, 2009 by Take Back NYU!
The NYU Admin has told us we need to leave by 1am or we will be officially tresspassing. We are expecting a confrontation with security and/or police.
We really need you now, more than ever - please get everyone outside for a giant rally at 12 midnight tonight. The more people there are outside, the less likely it is that NYU will call in the police to drag us out.
If you can, please print and distribute this flier.
First demand: Amnesty!
Idiots.
DC SDS is in solidarity with Take Back NYU! and all the students of NYU who are standing up for affordable, democratic, and socially responsible universities. We are inspired by this bold action and excited by the momentum that’s building in the student movement today. Hopefully, some members from DC SDS will be coming to NYU to support the occupation in person. From Greece to NYU, MAKE TOTAL DESTROY!
Love, DC SDS
Good luck!!
The many campuses who demand divestment from the Israeli occupation… are with you.
You are doing awesome. See you at midnight!
New School stands in solidarity with you. Keep going!
I was passed the takebacknyu web address by friends doing organizing work around divestment here in Olympia. What you all are doing is wonderful. If I didn’t live across the country in Washington state I would be there with you. Good luck! We’ll be watching to see how this goes!
Solidarity,
Amory
Good Luck and fight back!
also check this out if you haven’t already…Bill Meyers might be useful to your struggle and all struggles around the world!

RESISTERE RESISTERE RESISTERE!
Whatever happens, stay nonviolent in every way. Don’t do anything that can be used against you or will threaten the morality of your cause. And good luck!
NYU DOES NOT belong to you, nor do you have a RIGHT to any of its property (intellectual or physical).
Keep on keepin’ on!!! Stay as long as possible! The administration will not expel you for these demands or the occupation–the longer this gets regional and national attention, the better for us all!
An old union song appropriate for tonight…
We meet today in freedom’s cause
And raise our voices high,
We join our hands in Union strong
To battle or to die
Hold the fort, for we are coming
Union makes we strong
Side by side we battle onward
Victory will come.
Look my Comrades, see the Union’s
Banners waving high
Reinforcements now appearing
Victory is nigh
Hold the fort, for we are coming
Union makes we strong
Side by side we battle onward
Victory will come.
See our members still increasing
Here the bugle blow,
By our Union we shall triumph
Over every foe.
Hold the fort, for we are coming
Union makes we strong
Side by side we battle onward
Victory will come.
Fierce and long the battle rages,
But we will not fear;
Help will come when’er it’s needed
Cheer, my Comrades, Cheer
Pay for college the way I did, take a loan!
NYUs obligation is to all students, not just a few whiny undergrads. What about the middle class students who don’t get much aid? Their tuition will go up to support YOU.
NYU grads make good wages when they graduate. Unless of course you are majoring in Lesbian studies or Comparative Literature.
Why is it that you have to stay there past midnight? What about your demands requires staying in a building past midnight? I agree with a great many of your institutional demands – your ones regarding Israel and Gaza do seem somewhat out of place; this is not to say that they are not worthwhile, they’re just a bit bewildering in the company of these other demands – but this just seems like showboating after a certain point. Does staying in the building after a certain time in the day really further your cause? I understand that you’re facing a great deal of criticism, as well as tremendous support, for what you’re doing, but, in order to best serve your cause, you should do all you can to make sure that your acts of protest do not overshadow their reasons. At this point your objectives seem in danger of being subjugated to your behavior; the last thing you should ostensibly want – if your desire is for actual change, and not just attention – is to draw greater attention to yourselves than the reason you have presumably banded together. I wish you luck, but hope that you find a more coherent and cohesive way to approach the immensely complex tasks you have set for yourselves. If you’re not capable of handling and considering them seriously, cogently, and respectfully – and this growing frenzy around your actions puts you in danger of getting way too far ahead of yourselves in terms of preparedness and coherence –, then you should rather regroup, rephrase, and reconsider your mission than let it go on as messily and heatedly as it seems to be.
Damn i love what yall r doin if i can help in any type of way. im in florida so idk what i can do. but i will pray
